Then, again, maybe it's time to follow "The Plan".

The plan states we will dig and uncover and obtain the finest new talent that can be found. We will grow that talent until it is ML ready then we will promote them.

We will supplement that talent with shrewd FA signings and trades to provide the veteran leadership these young players will need to help them continue to progress.

When a veteran becomes too costly and the team has someone on the farm that plays that position, we will grade his progress and, if he is ready, we will promote him. If he is not ready, we will sign a FA or trade for a replacement until he is ready.

And, if Giancarlo Stanton becomes available, we will offer more talent for him than anyone else has available and it will not leave our farm bereft because we are prudent.
