Texas Rangers 40-Man Additions

The Texas Rangers have selected the contracts of RHP Ricky Vanasco, RHP Ronny Henriquez, and IF Ezequiel Duran.

So, only half of my predicted six players were protected. Available in the upcoming Rule 5 draft, whenever it occurs, are lefties Cole Ragans and Jake Latz plus OF Bubba Thompson. These three were in my lower tier, but I definitely expected at least one of them to be named. Also available will be OF Steele Walker, RHP Daniel Robert, and a host of others.

Texas also ran pitchers Kyle Cody and Edwar Colina through waivers and assigned them outright to AAA Round Rock. Cody had shoulder surgery at the end of September. Colina was an injured waiver pickup from the Twins who underwent an arthroscopic debridement procedure in May. Neither move is a surprise.

The 40-man roster is at 37.

Other News

Texas signed manager Chris Woodward through 2023 with a club 2024 option. Woodward's contract was set to expire after 2022.

The Arizona Fall League's Surprise Sagauros, partially populated by Rangers, will play in tomorrow's league championship game. Needing a win today, Surprise defeated Glendale 5-3. Owen White gave up three runs and fanned six in five innings. 3B Ezequiel Duran doubled, and 2B Justin Foscue singled.

The Cardinals signed free agent IF Anderson Tejeda.
