The Farm Report -- 4/20/2013

Rangers Farm Report: Games of 4/19

Texas claimed LHP Charlie Leesman on waivers from the White Sox.  Drafted out of Xavier in the 11th round of 2008, Leesman reached AAA last year and posted a 2.47 ERA in 135 innings.  He fanned 18% of opposing hitters, about average for a starting pitcher at that level.  Leesman was on release waivers and doesn't have to accept the move to Texas.  He tore his ACL last fall and was rehabbing at Chicago's Extended Spring Training.

Stars of the Day
AAA: Johan Yan / Engel Beltre, Jim Adduci, Chris McGuiness
AA: Guilder Rodriguez, Ryan Strausborger

AAA: Round Rock 2, at Oklahoma City (HOU) 5
Record: 9-7, +0.5

Chris McGuiness (.236/.323/.491) hit his third homer in the losing cause.  CF Engel Beltre (.290/.333/.339) doubled and singled, and RF Jim Adduci was 3-3 with a walk.  Some late runs sullied Collin Balester's line (6 IP, 10 H, 5 R), and Johan Yan struck out one across a scoreless 7th and 8th.

Mike Olt (.145/.242/.200) singled and walked, while Jurickson Profar (.237/.396/.395) failed to reach in four trips to the plate.

Round Rock is permitting 3.1 runs per game, easily the best in the league.

AA: Frisco 2, at Corpus Christi (HOU) 3
Record: 9-5, +1.0

Roman Mendez struck out the side around a walk and double in the 8th.  Mendez is allowing a meager .160/.222/.280 line by opposing hitters and has eight Ks in 7.1 innings.

CF Ryan Strausborger (.267/.377/.489) singled twice and stole bases four and five.  He was also caught.  Famed hurler Guilder Rodriguez was 3-4 with a double.  Starter Kevin Pucetas gave up three runs in seven innings.
